Questions
Things people ask before they ring.
Quotes, timing, guarantees, materials, storms and landlords. If yours is not here, ring 0113 460 1042 and ask.
Quotes and money
Free surveys, written quotes, no games.
Yes, always. Survey, photographs and a written quote at no charge and with no obligation. We do not do “free quote” then charge for the survey.
90 days. Material prices move, but you should not have to decide in a week.
Because two roofs that look the same from the road can be very different jobs. A price list would be either misleading or padded. We would rather look and quote properly.
On larger jobs such as re-roofs a deposit covers materials and scaffold, and the balance is paid on completion. Small repairs are paid on completion. It is all written in the quote.
Yes, on qualifying larger jobs. Ask when you receive your quote.
Our first twenty customers get £25 off the quoted price, unconditionally, as a thank-you for trusting a new name.
Timing
How quickly things happen.
Usually within a few working days for Wetherby and Wharfedale, and within the week across Leeds. Emergencies are same-day wherever we can manage it.
Small repairs are typically booked within a week or two of you accepting the quote. Re-roofs and chimney rebuilds are scheduled a few weeks out and we give you dates when you book.
Repairs and flat roofs need dry weather; re-roofs are done in sections so the house is always covered overnight. If the weather stops us we tell you the same morning.
Saturdays, yes. Sundays are for storm and leak callouts only.
Guarantees and insurance
What stands behind the work.
A 10-year written workmanship guarantee on all major work. It is handed to you at sign-off, not promised later.
Tiles, slates, membranes and fittings carry their manufacturers' warranties, which are often longer than ten years. We register them where the manufacturer requires it.
£5m public liability and £10m employer's liability. Certificates on request before we start.
You ring us and we come back. That is what the guarantee is for and why we put it in writing.
Materials and methods
How we do the job.
Almost always. We hold reclaimed stone slate and Welsh slate and can source most concrete and clay tiles, including discontinued profiles.
Lead, on anything that is meant to last. Lead-free flashings have their place on some flat roofs, and we will say if that is the case.
Yes, every time. New treated battens, breathable membrane and ventilation are part of a re-roof, not optional extras.
Yes, as standard on tile roofs, because they do not crack or blow off. On period properties we can still bed in mortar where the look matters.
Yes, across Wetherby, Boston Spa, Thorner and the other villages. Like-for-like materials, lime mortar, and advice on when consent is needed.
Storms and insurance claims
When the weather has done the damage.
Keep people away from anything that might fall, catch the water inside, and ring us. Do not go on the roof.
Yes. We provide dated photographs and a written description of the damage and the repair, and we deal with the work once the insurer approves it.
Usually, where the storm caused the damage rather than exposed wear and tear. We will be honest with you about which it is.
Landlords and businesses
Working with agents, tenants and trading premises.
Yes. We arrange access with tenants, keep the agent informed, and provide photographed reports and invoices for the file.
Yes. Early starts, evenings and weekends on commercial premises, with risk assessments and method statements provided.
Yes. Condition reports and priced schedules across a portfolio, and annual gutter and roof checks if you want them.
